What is this about?

This August we are flying to Cuzco, Peru to participate in one of the rarest, least practical races know to man, The Mototaxi Junket!

Originally invented in Peru and not really perfected anywhere, a mototaxi is a tiny 125cc motorbike with a two wheel sofa attachment used to get around the back streets of cities. It rides a little faster than you can walk, but needs a little push uphills, making it a perfect vehicle for crossing the South American continent!

There is no route for the Mototaxi race, just a place to start (Cuzco, Peru) and a place to finish(Asunción, Paraguay). The teams are not allowed to take any highways, which isn't a problem since for the most part they don't exist. The terrain varies from the Amazonian Rainforest , to the largest salt flats, to the driest desserts, to the highest capital in the world. The paths that lead there are muddy, narrow, and include the most dangerous road in the world, 70km of narrow road with a 3,600m plunge. Also along the way is the most remote wildernesses in the continent, the Chaco. A place so vast and empty they have a prison without walls since there is nowhere to escape to...

No matter which route is chosen we expect this to be the best adventure of our life and we want to share it with you!

As with everything we do this adventure will help to save the world. So every team taking part has to raise a minimum of £1000 for our fine charities. This year the charity is Operation Smile.

We are also filming a short documentary about our experience and hope to raise some money to help us pay for film. Thanks for reading!
